Playing on a WU athletics team is no cake walk

The Journal, Webster University, MO

7 hours ago by Kyle Starnes Senior, Broadcast Journalism

Your implication that athletes at this campus do not work hard enough is completely erroneous and completely ignorant. Clearly you've never been around a baseball

workout. Might I note that we are NOT in season currently and let me walk you through a week in the life of a baseball

player.

Campus police are investigating a bomb threat in Kelce Hall that took place on Tuesday evening, although they say they don't have much to go on.

Kanye's 'heartbreak' and drama

Western Courier, Western Illinois University, IL

22 hours ago by Charlotte Downes

From this summer's Bonnaroo set that started two hours late and was greeted by jeering fans throwing trash to his recent arrest in England, it has been a rough few months for Kanye West.

West's album, "808's & Heartbreak," which will be released Dec. 16, is predicted to be a bittersweet (with emphasis on "bitter") chronicle of a consuming, tumultuous breakup.

Western Courier, Western Illinois University, IL

1 day ago by Brent Busby

Dr Pepper is putting its money where its mouth is. Back in March, the company behind the drink with 23 flavors issued a claim stating that they would give everyone in America a free can of Dr Pepper if Guns N' Roses finally released their highly anticipated and delayed album, "Chinese Democracy" by the end of the year.

Taylor Swift's 'Fearless'

Western Courier, Western Illinois University, IL

1 day ago by Charlotte Downes

You wouldn't borrow your little sister's Jonas Brothers CD, but you may want to grab Taylor Swift's "Fearless" and take a listen.

While its first single, "Love Story," features romantic Romeo and Juliet song lyrics that have snuck their way onto every Facebook page of any 15- to 20-year-old who is in a relationship or whose crush is currently being nice to her, "Fearless" is packed with break-up songs and mature songwriting.

Free speech in dorms sparks debate

The Omnibus, Southwest Baptist University, MO

1 day ago by Brendan Block

In a post-election experiment my roommate and I displayed an Obama/Biden poster outside our dorm room to see how long our sign would last in Landen Hall.

This political speech lasted only two school days until it was defaced-someone cut president-elect Barack Obama's head out of the poster.

Assassins:

The Omnibus, Southwest Baptist University, MO

1 day ago by Leeann Kline

Many ask why SBU students continue to play Assassins even though actual shootings have taken place on campuses across America.

Each institution must assess its actions in the context of what is happening in the world. As students find information about other students only to track them down and shoot them with water guns, some people find the game too confrontational and risky.

By now we've all heard it: "This election is historical," "The people's voice was heard," "Democracy has been restored" - and so on. Barack Obama, in his radio address on Saturday, only furthered the rhetoric.

Collegio, Pittsburg State University, KS

6 days ago by Jeremy Johnson

Tom Bryant may be in his last year as president of PSU, but he's not slowing down in the least. His plans for finishing projects around campus are ambitious as ever.

"There are some of those things I don't want to leave for the next person to have to deal with," Bryant said.

Rice Krispie treats conquer German taste buds

Rice Krispie treats conquer German taste buds

All I wanted was a box of Rice Krispies.

As my contribution to the American table at a study abroad fair here in Bremen, I had promised to bring a few batches of Rice Krispie treats. Does it get any more American than that? I had only forgotten one small detail: I wasn't in Missouri any more.
